Indian Diversity

We all know about the diverse nature of our country. 'Unity in diversity' is the stereotype tagline which we are confronting with from the very beginning of the dawn of independent INDIA . But rarely we think about the real nature of diversity, its role and consequence, in our politico-administrative circles. This diversity fills color and sense to our cultural heritage, otherwise it wouldn't of such beauty. This diversity signify the age of INDIAN civilization, which is thousands of year old. This diversity proofs the strength of INDIAN philosophy, which because of its inherent features of tolerance, brotherhood, love & respect for all, proudly represent the foundation of this country. Though this privilege comes with many side effects, we still believe that diversity is nature's nature . Among the many negativities, we are focusing here, mainly upon the communalism and regionalism. These problems are not unique to INDIA. Where ever such conditions exist these evil aspects come out of the veil. Even having such a mix of races, ethnicities, etc INDIA haven't shown such inclination towards communalism, as it shows with the arrival of Britishers in INDIA with there evil motives of divide and rule. Similarly emergence of democratic principles which is based on mass politics also gives necessary energy for this monster to grow and play havoc in society. Now the latter cause have the dominance over both the problems of modern communalism and regionalism, which definitely have a close relation with socio-cultural backwardness and prevailing inequality and poverty in INDIA. It is well understood that without the basic level of satisfaction(due to either lack of opportunities or capabilities), it is more to expect brotherhood and tolerance specially from underprivileged section of society. Recently we have seen how in the garb of sheer politics, identity sensitive people of maharashtra were incited against the fellow citizens of MUMBAI (specially poor people from UP, BIHAR, etc.). Any responsible citizen couldn't endorse such action. We all basically at least now, (after incidents of babri masjid, gujrat riot, etc.) understand that these tactics are only to gain some short term political mileage in this competitive world. I am placing a challenge, could the party or leaders involved behind such action, have the courage to give a written assurance that they will washout the city of MUMBAI from the inauspicious feet of north INDIAN once and for all. I am giving an example in this regard, some years ago BGP form a government at the centre with the commitment to its followers and RSS, VHP, etc to build RAM temple at Ayoudhya, but couldn't fulfil it finally. WHY,..... just because forming government and running it is a totally different thing. When you come at a responsible position, you would have to take many together, have to answer the whole country(or say people), even international community in this globalized world. What ultimately matters is development, which some state government followed in the states of GUJRAT, BIHAR, and MP, and become the face of their party. I wonder Why, our leaders don't understand this phenomena. Why they are still try to run their political career on the issues of communalism, regionalism, reservation, identity issue, language, etc. Now when every member of society want to grow, to become a part of booming INDIAN economy, and equally obsessed with growing inequality, our leaders waste time in politicizing each and every matter(blamegame). Why don't they invest their crucial time, in trying to give people more transparent, responsive, and sensitive government, that have the mission to provide people the much needed opportunity to rise from the ruins of social & economic backwardness, towards the future of transformation and development. A step which ultimately led the foundation of egalitarian society.

Naxalism & India

Naxalism, which is announced by our honorable home minister, as the most important security problem, seems somewhat misinterpreted & prejudiced statement from a responsible minister of a socially & economically democratic country like INDIA. Actually naxalism is the reflection of prevalent socio-economic & political condition, though dangerous & disorder in shape & form. We all know about the varied form of inequalities; social & communal stratification; grim condition of poverty & deprivation specially in remote & tribal areas; level & degree of unemployment; ineffective public machinery in delivering basic amenities & welfare measures; rampant corruption everywhere; general degradation of moral & ethical values from every aspect of social life; etc, we all know about how in a country, which claims to reach the highest rate of economic growth by 2014, people strive of square meal, basic level of medical facilities, safe drinking water, social security & justice, where 25% of world's hunger reside, where around 50% of children in the age group of 0-5 years suffer from malnutrition; we all know about the administrative apathy & callous attitude towards the most needy people, how they behave as an instrument in the hands of powerful, how often they indulge in anti social activities themselves in the lack of proper disciplinary deterrent & grievance redressal mechanism in the system;..........even then if we outrightly reject the struggle of naxals then we are behaving somewhat selfish keeping only the interest of so called rising urban middle class in mind. Don't misinterpret me, i am definitely not in favour of any kind of protest which is using arms & violence as their means. But if you are agree with me about the above specifying problems in INDIAN society & system of governance, then you wouldn't definitely equate naxalism with terrorism. In simple terms, i believe that naxalism is like cholera & terrorism is like, say, swine flu, ie, like cholera & other water borne diseases, which is induced because of bacteria prevailing inside our country, naxalism is a internal problem (got impetus from socio-economic inequalities, in the same way like cholera spreaded because of the presence of contaminants in the environment)....while terrorism is generally a outer product(external), which uses the communal & ethnic stratification to flourish, in the same way swine flu is alien which strike upon diverse immunities differently. Now its upon you to make your own opinion about naxalism & its spreading wing. I just want to say that they are part of our society, since it has its root well rooted in socio cultural realities. And every cause developed a vested interest in some quarters after a long period of time. Same way naxalism now couldn't be treated equally as tribal & peasants uprisings at the time of colonial India. But some sensitiveness in our understanding could find an alternative solution to this problem in place of present emphasis on war like strategies. Think about it..........

Poverty & Hunger

These days poverty & hunger again picked up its due credit in political & administrative circles in particular & public in general.Though they are hot issues ever since the creation of civilization , it became a responsibility, to reduce poverty & hunger since the coming of modern government, infused with democratic principles, in political spheres. Whatever, it is a fact that peace, harmony & social order could be dreamed of only, when everybody get livelihood freedom beside social & economic one. Dignified life is the part & parcel of right to life & personal liberty, enshrined in the constitution .And dignity could only be maintained when each, & every people got equal opportunities to build its capacity in its fullest potential. Which in turn need much more than square meals, clothes & shelter. Affordable quality education(from bottom to high level), public health care system, non discriminatory employment, effective judicial system, honest public delivery system, etc, are some of the important components of quality life, which is the right of every citizen of a country like INDIA. So enacting Right to education act, & proposal of Food security bill ,aren't enough to solve long pending problems of human deprivation on the one hand & societal shame on the other(like death related to malnutrition, debt related suicide , infant & maternal mortality , drinking water infected with poisonous contaminants , to name a few).Even then it is a positive step forward in a right direction. Besides some policy level issues in both food & education bills, which need a wide ranging public debate before its finalization, it is very important to set up a proper mechanism to monitor the implementation & evalution of these policies in letter & spirit. Beside political & administrative will, active participation of people at each & every stage is pertinent to actually realize the benefit of these legislative enactments. We must ensure that, this time these initiatives won't be marred by corrupt intents engulfing the whole system from top to bottom, and the benefits reach the deserved millions. Lets hope this affirmation wouldn't become mere suggestion in the shape & form of legislation.

Welcome 2010…….happy new year………..so many hopes ……….so many wishes. Who is there to fulfill these aspirations…….isn’t it is unanswerable. Absolutely correct this question is not easy to answer. Because there are so many people who places relevant questions before global community , there are people who understand the significance and importance of such questions , but there is nobody(especially those who are in the helm of affairs) who take responsibility for some positive change, for some affirmative actions, which give impetus to the concept of sustainable development with some inclusiveness and social justice. People knows very well that there need & greed put heavy pressure upon resource endowment of environment and deteriorate its pristine purity, they know that sustainability of atmosphere is in danger, infact they know that future of this planet is going to lost its existence ,even then they are engaged in focusing on their present only which is completely laden with consumeristic & materialistic responsibilities. Why this apathy towards our own humanity....why. Monistic & unnecessary competition of luxury completely transform the lives of people.People really starts believing that luxurious style of life is the only motive for a man's life.Only way to achieve satisfaction in life is to earn(by any way) as much as possible. Most unfortunate among this which completely shattered the hopes of some positive change, is general acceptance among people about this feeling in society. Most drastic of this is general acceptance of corruption in society(ie the way to earn money by whatever means possible) . Everybody is engaged in taking advantage of their position for personal benefits, disregarding their official duties & responsibilities. And society in place of putting social restraints , rules ,& ethics which really define its cultural traits ; giving respect to undeserved corrupt people who have amass of wealth. Such cases are seen very often. Whole system is collaborating in this insane act of inhumanity. Such cases if somehow exposed, got to be submerged in the gorge of corruption & irregularities.Everybody know about this nexus between politician , administrators, businessmen,& criminals; unfortunately legal system with their ineffectiveness, inactions , & procedural rigidities encourage this nexus to grow indiscriminately. This need to be breakdown if not possible through systematic manner then through some kind revolution by the sufferers(ie the mass), this is bound to happen. History could be taken as evident in this regard. Not a single system flourish too long disregarding the rights of its common people . That saturation point is very near & is quite visible.

It's been long time. Somewhat delinked from the world scenerio, i realised that nothing big has changed. Terror attacks, people plight, environmental degradation, ever increasing greed...nothing has changed. Political system whether in India or elsewhere have similar excuses about contemporary disorder in society, be it political, economical, social or some other. Administrative apathy towards the public, for which this institution was supposed to be created, as the nomenclature 'public servant' suggest, is still same. So what should we do now? still wait for something miraculous to happen or taking some energetic initiative in this regard. I think latter is somewhat forward looking, dynamic & unique. Leaving our future completely in the hands of corrupt system hoping something good to happen is at least now not tolerable. looking with a died eye into the grim condition of non priveleged and vulnerables isn't enough . We must have to do something on our part to make their life somewhat better. This is the only way to satisfy our inner self in the long run. Bye for now... think about this

Everything have some positive aspect inherent in it. Do you think that mumbai terror attacks fits this statement? confused ,but i think it has. Actually it is not that i haven't realized the pain of terror victims & survivors of this attack, of course it is true to some extent. But my point is this that such event at least have the potential to bring some revolution kind of change. But in a situation in which INDIA is there nothing could be said like this,it might be possible that like other terror incidents( mumbai train blast, parliament attack to name a few) after some time this attack becomes history,& nothing would change. But it is also true that history is full of such incidents which creates revolutions. Actually such incidents are only medium to reach saturation level which is in real accumulation of past events. Passing of pendleton act in USA to bring merit system in recruitment in place of spoil system, use of beef & pigs fat in cartridge of enfield rifle during colonial rule in INDIA in 1857, pathetic condition of balance of payment position in INDIA around 1991 etc, every such event brought some change which is progressive to humankind. I am actually hoping such kind of change ,this time in india. May be i am hoping somewhat more. Which is quite visible from present scenerio. Actually problem in INDIA is slightly more complex. Social development in INDIA is not well enough to expect from people a kind of awareness in proper perspective. Reason behind this are many. Mixed community, low level of literacy, religious backwardness & related high level of intolerance in society, rising inequality(social, economic, political, etc), colonial history etc.,are some of them. All this in turn brought corrupt political & administrative culture to nurture & flourish. These are some of factors behind present condition of INDIA. Now coming to the point, i think mumbai terror attack deserve the attention of the kind of events which bring revolutions, by attacking one of the finest heritage of india at the heart of commercial capital is a challenge before people & government. Terrorism have no faith & religion. It must be tackled with an effective system & required coordination(lack of which is the main culprit behind many such incidents), above politics with unity & compositeness. This time taking direct action against terrorist camps operated in POK is not a bad decision as it is in tune with peoples desire & expectation and INDIA's reach & reputation.

New society

New is a quite confusing word, especially when it is applied to any human aspects . Giving or predicting anything about human nature, behaviour, action etc, & justifying its universal validity is even more arrogant. I believe that human being is one of the most complicated creature of this earth, about which it is very hard to theorise. It is now considered a fact that, we are now living in the ultimate stage of human civilisation . Complex society, economy, polity, etc is well accepted. Whatever energy we are putting in growth & development, & whatever gains we fetch out of it, is counterproductively have to apply to neutralise the degradation & deterioration come out of the same. The only thing it really creates is inequality & inequity among human being in society, in this process of resource redistribution. Neo- colonialism, through neo-liberal economic & social principles, that are real & widespread exportation of developed world to non developed majority is quite influencing & have real & definite affect in society. Consumerism & consumptive culture in present society is conspicuous. Easy finance facility(especially for prime custumers),improving salary sturcture(even with inflationary impact) under the influence & presence of big multinational companies, unhealthy competition among people in the race of money money & money, is seen everywhere. Only reason behind study is to make oneself compatible & worthful for this modelof development. Human values, humanitarian principles, concern for family, society, & nature are considered primitive, &  people having these in his perception are out of league. Indian values, culture & principles are used only by politcians, religious leaders, etc to fulfill their ulterior motives,& also by people when have any crisis of identity .This face of human society is quite embaressing & futile. One day i am sure in everybody's life 'realisation' make them think beyond this material attraction & understand their existence in the process of self actualisation.
