Reservation: menace of modern society.

New definition of Aarakshan(reservation) is, “a political game which is played politically for the sake of politicians against nation’s integrity only for some short term political end”. neeraj. Originally constitution of India provided for reservation as an affirmative step to promote socially and educationally backward section of society, for the period of 10 years. But by regular amendments in the constitution this provision of reservation is extended just to sustain easy vote bank in the elections. Now after more then 65 years of independence, we all know that problem of untouchability is the thing of past, except in some very remote areas where SC’s are in minority. Generally each community is accepted by assimilative nature of Indian society and its people. Now benefits of reservation far outweigh its side effects in the form of increasing hatred, heartburning, enmity, and widening of general divisions in society. Also different communities take support of illegal bandhs and  violence to get their name notified in the list of SC’s. Pathetic! Once there was a time when people due to social discrimination try to hide their caste name and now they proudly demand benefits for them, as a right, as we have seen in the case of jats, gujjars and meenas. I am personally not against the policy of reservation when it is given with good intent. Now we have seen that benefits basically meant to support the backwards in society is actually being taken by most privileged section of these communities. Solution is quite simple and straight, reservation should be given on economic basis instead of caste one so that economically nonprivileged  section of society (even of high caste) without any discrimination, gets the benefit. This way once a person gets the benefits of reservation and his family comes in the privileged group automatically his claim would get lost for future benefit. This way question of reservation on the basis of religion would also get automatically resolved as it would be on the basis of economic status of the person not his religion. This is not only my view it is supported by majority of experts but unfortunately till now it doesn’t comes under the cabinet agenda. So please think about it and make a common stand in society against caste based reservation.

Environment...and people.

Today I am going to share some knowledge related to extreme weather phenomena we are facing on regular basis these days. Extreme weather phenomena basically means happening of different weather components like rainfall , winds, snowfall, heat, cold etc at its extreme level(including its irregularities and uncertainties), i.e. too large or too small. Around the world in different intensity we can observe glimpses of this phenomenon which cause enormous damage to life and property. More frequent storms, short but heavy downpour (including cloud burst) and consequent flooding, frequent heat strokes and famine like condition are quite conspicuous. Now question arises, whether these phenomenas are natural process of earth balancing or they are new, of this age only. For this I want to clarify that even with such level of scientific and technological development our knowledge related to weather and climatic elements is limited and have many flaws in it. Whatever knowledge we have point us towards increasing industrialization and urbanization and their consequent high level of pollution as the basic cause behind these changes in overall environment. Increasing emission of carbon dioxide, sulfure dioxide, methane, chloro-floro carbon etc cause different  atmospheric disabilities like global warming, depletion of ozone layer, extreme weather, etc. But scientific studies have contradictions regarding these findings, and one circle of researchers have the opinion that all these changes in atmosphere is a part of natural process, and is self balancing and wouldn’t  rise to a level non survival to human being. Hence many developed countries led by USA hesitate to sign any treaty that binds them to cut their emission level and impede their rate of development. Nobody knows who is in the right track, but one thing is clear may be this pollution and contamination level doesn’t have the potential to cause the end of this planet in recent future, but is enough to destroy the daily life of ordinary people. Now it is difficult to believe what we eat, drink or take as medicine, will make us better or have negative affect on our body. So please think about these, and spread this message that perhaps at individual level we can’t stop disaster to happen, but at least we can, as far as possible, try to save natural resources, make minimum level of pollution and contribute towards the safety of overall  environment; to make this planet earth a better place to live.

Be generous...

This is amazing that country in which around 50% of world’s poor live have some richest temples having daily collection of about INR 2crore. I know that almost we all have this information. But I am discussing some interesting topics which showcase our blind respect and influence of religion in our minds. Practically looking upon things of our daily life, we found that in the name of religion we generously offer gifts to temples and their so called representatives (often called as pandas) but hesitate in giving five rupee to the elderly and disabled poor people sitting around temples. This we do to project this point that looking upon the booming economic status of India we must not have such dent of begging in our society. This is absolutely correct in one sense, but we must have to accept this as a side affect of inequality that is growing day by day, and our apathetic attitude towards poor and poverty in society. In the same theme it is found that in the mall culture we unhesitatingly buy stuffs from air conditioned showrooms in a fix price, but often we found affluent people arguing with poor vendors sometimes for 5 or 10rs. And feel very bad and being cheated when found that somebody got the same stuff in lesser prices. We all know that this is not a big deal and by charging you more price he is not going to rich, so may be we should look upon this as our contribution to their hardwork and labour. Similarly we feel uncomforted in giving money charged by local people for their labour (whether unskilled or skilled), and ready to pay company technicians even if they overcharged you. By these examples I am focusing upon the point that under the impact of globalization poor have to work very hard to earn their livelihood respectfully, so we should respect their labour and service and mustn’t base our bahaviour upon their financial condition and status. Their labour is very important both for the future of bulging cities and diminishing agriculture in rural areas, otherwise in recent future we see that like western countries service of human hands become very costly and rare. So think about it and try to be more generous with the poor…….swami ramkrishna paramhans once said that “service of man is similar to service of God”.

Lovely India...

Fed up with similar news, something about politics, corruption, problems of downtrodden Indians, etc; I thought today we shall try to explore the positive features of Indian society. India, when this word sounds, first thing which comes in our mind is its being ancient, its huge population and problems basically related to it. Now when we compare it to other countries of the world, India is really a very ancient country having diversity in its physical and cultural traits. Its colonial experience placed barrier in overall progress of socioeconomic aspects, political and other modern developments. Even then when we look upon India, we can clearly and distinctly found it very rich in some very important aspect of life. In India we conspicuously find family values filled with love and respect, which western countries are dying to develop in real sense for their social life. Respect for and believe in god and general spiritual fervor is what make an Indian a true Indian. We should feel proud that under the huge influence of western lifestyle and overall environment of consumerism, people of india have faith in its cultural values and always show concern for it whenever need arises. Youngsters who are  the most vulnerable part of society show a very balance attitude between traditions and modernity. Also spread this message all around the world that Indians never lose its unique values and nature….and always try to remain happy under every circumstances.  Salute to India and Indians.
